It wasn't long after that before his head finally laid down on the steel and popped. They couldn't do anything. He'd leapt from a difficult area, and there was no way anyone could reach him. All they could do was watch him die. To make matters worse, he'd chosen to leap into a pot of very high grade steel, that the customer had requested a very specific composition. By throwing himself into the pot, the added carbon and other minerals, metals and contaminants ruined the whole batch, and the customer refused the order to the cost of a few million dollars. They were never able to fish him out. Instead, once the steel was poured, they cut off a 4-inch cube of the steel, polished up, and had it engraved with his name and dates of life, which was presented to his widow'
