043 ODDISH Heed Pokemusu Oddish are shorter than most Musus, standing around 140 cm. They have root like feet which can change shape to suit their environment. Their leaf like fingers are actually made of skin and are green to disguise them as foliage to would be attackers. These fingers are prehensile and incredibly flexible. Oddish hate being exposed to the sun and will bury themselves in soil to avoid it, leaving only their fingers visible above ground. In this state they absorb nutrients through their skin. They only come out when their leaves feel the sensation of moonlight upon them. As bathing in moonlight aids their growth. Since the Musus are exclusively nocturnal, they don't interact with humans often. In rare occasions where they happen upon someone at night, they are generally friendly and easy going. Their only goal is to grow larger and as such Oddish have few reasons to engage with humans on their own accord. Oddish avoid fighting when possible. In the occasions that they must fight, their only method of defense is to use their prehensile leaves to throw stones at the attacker. The most ade. pt Oddish are capable of throwing stones around 145kph (90 mph). ■Trainer Tips The fingers of an Oddish look similar to some species of turnip but if an Oddish is pulled forcefully to the surface, they will shriek in agony and attack. One can tell an Oddish from a normal vegetable from the lack of scent from their leaves. On nights with a full moon, Oddish are overjoyed and celebrate the occasion with their sisters. 044 GLOOM Gloom are a lonesome Musu that are known for the large orange petals atop their head and smaller flowers across the rest of their body. They constantly produce a thick nectar from their mouth that looks like drool to other creatures but is actually nutritious and has numerous medical applications as well. Generally a Gloom will live in solitude in a damp location with generous sunlight, such as a marsh. They require a larger amount of water than most plant like Musu to continually produce their nectar. Gloom are seldom seen by humans or other Musu. Not because they're rare but due to the intense smell of the nectar the Musu produces. Generally in the wild, Gloom's nectar has a rotting scent that scare away anyone that may come near but Gloom are capable of producing a wide variety of aromas based on their current mood. However, without strong social bonds, Gloom never produce a sweet nectar. Dooming them to a cycle of misery that creates a stronger putrid stink There are no natural enemies to Gloom, as any creature with olfactory organs stay far away from them. Because of this, the scent Gloom produce is their only natural defense. ■Trainer Tips It's rare to see a Gloom before one smells them and due to the variety of aromas Gloom produce, it's difficult to determine them from scent alone. As such the only time someone is likely to encounter them is by chasing bad smells. Gloom initially appear cold and detached upon meeting strangers but after being shown a small amount of kindness.
