r» ^ 167 SPINARAK Hidden in the depths of the likes of the Ilex forest and other unsavory places, one may be ensnared by the webs of Spinarak. This six legged musu rarely confronts others directly and will instead place webs throughout their territory to trap victims to eat. Said victims are sapient and die horribly. They live isolated from other musu, Spinarak and humans as well. Choosing a life of solace among the wilderness. It's believed they're more active at night, so if their territory must be crossed, do so when the sun is out. While most humans steer clear of Spinarak, some brave encounters with them to obtain their webbing. As their webbing when processed can be made into a universal anesthetic that's incredibly useful for surgeries and other medical procedures. There's been some controversy over the J.G.M.'s (Joh-to Guild of Medicine) dealing with Spinarak. As its rumored they trade bodies to Spinarak in exchange for their webbing. Some go as far to say when the guild runs out of bodies they "make" more for them. Spinarak rarely have to fight directly and will avoid such confrontations when possible. Preferring to lead their foes into their traps instead. sTrainer Tips It's theorized that Spinarak can form bonds, though its not known how, as those that have spoken to them claim they're rather emotionless. We don't recommend anyone try to find out the answer to this. "Some Spinarak will try to convince passerby's that they're different from their sisters to lure them into a trap. But no, they never change...” - Leo Pardon, a researcher specialized in violent musu. Threat Level: High ^
^ 168 ARIADOS I They say once a Spinarak tastes the blood of a hundred souls, she morphs into an even more vile and abominable form called Ariados. Said form is larger, stronger, more duplicitous and most importantly, possesses a unique "sticky web" that traps prey more e-ffectively than their sisterly counterparts. Ariados aren't capable of teamwork, they can't even live in the same forest with other musus without wanting to kill them. As such when an Ariados appears somewhere, said inhabitants vacate quickly, either from the area or from this world. Its not Ariados' tactics or poison or strength that humans fear, its their unique and seemingly limitless cruelty. Few die quickly from Ariados, with some being drained of fluids until they can live no longer, others will be "released” by Ariados and allowed to flee. Without realizing that a thin strand of Ariados' webbing had been attached to them the whole time and the musu is using their victim to lead them to more "prey". While the musu is strong, it vastly prefers to engage with the element of surprise on its side and will rarely make an attack without it. sTrainer Tips Some say that if a Spinarak can be wooed, the Ariados that arises from the Spinarak will remember their former love. We can't confirm this though. "The itsy bitsy human ran through the forest path. Down came the spider, and they felt it's wrath. Out came the sun, and shone upon the gore, and the itsy bitsy human was heard nevermore” - Nursery rhyme warning of the dangers of Ariados. Threat Level: High ^
