70 CHINCHOU O i?ocm The angler musu, Chinchou, are known for their back antenna that cast a large amount of light and their unique cross shaped pupils. Said pupils give Chinchou the ability to see exceptionally through bright light and deep darkness. Chinchou are amphibious by nature and tend to live in shallows near human settlements. One particularly large colony dwells at Olivine Harbor, though they've been seen throughout the region as well. Sailors have great reverence for the musu as they act as natural lighthouses for maritime sailing. Many shipping companies will also have a Chinchou aboard their vessels to act as signals to harbors and other ships at sea. Which they do so by lighting their antenna at specific patterns to mean phrases like "S.O.S." or "Run aground" etc. The amphibious biology of Chinchou makes it difficult for them to excel at ground or sea. Their flippers are ok at swimming and capable at walking on land but they aren't particularly fast at either biome. Because of this they depend on their ability to discharge energy from their antenna to defend themselves. sTrainer Tips Chinchou are quite amicable to humans and generally appreciate their company. 171 LANTURN Light Pokemusu The light musu. Lanturn, are the result of Chinchou moving deeper into the ocean and adapting to the environment. They lose the ability to traverse land in exchange for more specialized fins and their lights become stronger to let them to see longer distances in the depths of the ocean. Since they no longer possess feet, they instead travel the ocean floors in "crews" with other water musu. They give their bands unique names and make flags with skulls on them to wave around. They're often disappointed when they try to wave them above the surface and realize they're too soaked to blow in the breeze. Human sailors are incredibly wary of Lanturn as their mischievous nature often leads to them damaging, pilfering and even destroying vessels. Most Lanturn don't mean much harm but their propensity to do pranks and bizarre moral code make them a threat regard less of this. Lanturn's jovial disposition and unintentionally dangerous nature mean they rarely are attacked and as such many of them don't know what to do when attacked. Because of this many will panic and overreact to threats with indiscriminate electrical discharges in the waters around them. sTrainer Tips Lanturn’s lights are so bright that they are often called the stars of the sea as a group of them make the ocean resemble a night’s sky.
