Researchers once thought they found a Cubone establishment in the outskirts of Johto when in fact they had run into a group of Houndour. At a distance it's easy to confuse the two since they're some of the few musu that practice Osteomancy and use skeletons as a form of fashion. While Cubone wear bones, Houndour actually manipulate their own bones to extend through their skin. This is a complex and horrifically painful practice that other Osteomancers call "Beyond stupid”. When asked why Houndour do this they reply "Because it's cool". Houndour are rather social with one another but not so much with humans. They have a habit of following their stronger Houndour sisters and disregarding the rules of those outside their groups. A few Houndour groups have assimilated into society as mercenary bands but most are bandits. One can distinguish different tribes and bands by the skull insignia they wear on their heads. Its difficult to gauge the strength of individual Houndour as they rarely fight alone and instead gang up on opponents in great numbers to beat them up. Some known abilities of theirs are their fire manipulation and resistance to psychic attacks. sTrainer Tips Houndour tend to respect strength, though their definition of strength is dubious as the musu doesn't have any qualms about fighting dirty. The bonding process for the musu is similarly confusing as sometimes they "adopt" humans to take with them but other times need to be won over through exceptional feats. ^ 229 HOUNDOOM sTrainer Tips Houndoom value loyalty far above everything else and require those closest to them to undergo the "burning men's soul" ritual. During this the Houndoom curses the follower to always obey the musu's commands. Failure to do so will ignite the follower in a flame that can't be extinguished. Threat Level: High ^ The leaders of Houndour packs are referred to as Houndoom. These are Houndour that reach an exceptional level of flame manipulation and Osteo-mancy. The long horns they brandish atop their heads are the result of advanced bone manipulation. Much like Houndour, Houndoom are rather brash, violent and short tempered. Except Houndoom exemplifies these traits even more than their smaller sisters. With them lashing out at at nearly any small inconvenience that comes their way. Some theorize that Houndour are less sociable in these groups because they go out of their way to appease the temperaments of their leaders. Houndoom are quite rare and only seem to appear in isolationist Houndour gangs. When Houndour assimilate with human society it appears they lose the impetus to become Houndoom. Additionally only one Houndoom can be in a group of Houndour and when they come into contact with another, a fight erupts quickly for dominance. It's difficult to judge the strength of Houndour because they tend to fight as a group and its even harder to tell for Houndoom because they never fight alone and will use as many underhanded tricks as possible to avoid any situation that's remotely fair. 177cm cm
